Snoezelen therapy is widely used for residents with moderate to late stage dementia, but all of us can agree...a serene room with these bubbles is what the world needs now. Our goal is to create engaging activities for all the senses, so we are raising funds for water features (including a bubble tube), fiber optic lights, a laser star projector, a nature sound machine, an aromatherapy fan and a variety of tactile activities. The soothing environment of a therapy room or therapy items are specially designed to deliver specific stimuli to various senses using lighting effects, color, sounds, textures, music and scents. They can:

*Decrease frequency and severity of symptomatic behavior (e.g., anxiety, agitation and tension)

*Stimulate the senses of withdrawn residents

*Soothe and relax residents

*Promote relaxation, solace and pain management

*Enhance and increase attention span, thinking and reasoning skills, and concentration

*Improve overall well-being

*Create a calming atmosphere

Help us further our goal of creating a Snoezelen room and/or a toolkit of items that can be brought into a resident's room at the Healthcare Center.
