We didn’t expect to be planning a Mother’s Day Parking Lot Parade instead of a Mother’s Day Tea, but here were are, practicing social distancing, under visitor restrictions, and working toward creating positive, engaging and entertaining ways for our residents to still feel connected.

As much of our attention is focused, rightly so, on critical services like health care, PPE supplies, and ever-changing guidelines, we want to continue to inspire, encourage, and empower our residents during this precarious time.

I want to take a moment and share how Sayre Christian Village is working to keep residents connected & engaged:

• Our staff hands out eCards, conducts Window Visits, facilitates Virtual Visits and phone calls to ensure that families stay in contact.
• Chaplain Tyler has modified his Sunday Services to go digital and we’re working on a campus ‘studio’ setting so that we can stream residents’ beloved Bible Studies & Hymn sing-a-longs led by Tyler to the Healthcare Center TVs and to common area spaces for housing side or for viewing on YouTube.
• Activities Team members are using every ounce of their creativity to come up with ways to make 1:1 visits into positive and fun surprise and delight interactions.
• New automatic calling features and systems have been put in place to ensure that we have a rapid response system to keep you informed should we have a positive case of COVID-19, you can be reached quickly. We are updating our COVID-19 Information Line daily and also making frequent updates to the website coronovirus update blog.

We look forward to when our doors will re-open and our programs will resume. Until then, we will prepare to make up for lost time and set a course for the future. We hope that you will join us in making sure that our mission remains sustainable as we navigate this unknown territory.
